NYSE and Nasdaq finalize plan to open for trading at 9:30 a.m. Monday
The U.S. stock market, the world's largest, will open for business Monday after the longest closure since World War II, according to New York Stock Exchange Chairman Richard Grasso. Grasso, alongside Nasdaq chairman Hardwick Simmons, said trading in all equities will remain closed tomorrow, but open at 9:30 am Eastern time Monday. The open will be subject to system tests conducted Saturday. Stocks are likely to fall when financial markets resume trading Monday, analysts and investors said. Losses will be short-lived, however, as investors and monetary authorities at home and abroad express their confidence in the U.S. economy, its companies and its currency.
