Dow sinks record 684 points despite rate cuts

U.S. stocks finished sharply lower on the day as interest rate cuts by the Federal Reserve and the European Central Bank were taken mostly in stride. Investors focused on the economic downside to last week's terrorist attacks , sending the Dow Jones industrial average to a record point drop of 684.80
