Cathay Pacific Up 4% as U.S. and European airlines facing bankruptcy
Cathay Pacific Airways Ltd. (0293), Hong Kong's only long-distance airline, rose for a second day as some U.S. and European airlines are facing bankruptcy after the U.S. terrorist attacks. At the close, Cathay shares soared 4 percent at HKD6.50. Turnover doubled to HKD73.1 million. Still, the stock is down 22 percent since Sept. 11 when the U.S. encountered terrorist attack.
