HSI close the week Below 9,000

The benchmark Hang Seng Index ended the week below 9,000 points on heavy losses in U.S and European markets amid worries about a global economic recession. At today's close, the HSI was down 383.78 points, or 4.12 percent, at 8,934.20 after moving between 8,894.36 and 9,039.65. Turnover was HK$8.4 billion, up from yesterday's HK$7.1 billion. For this week, the HSI gave up 7.5 percent. The Growth Enterprise Market Index shed 1.50 points, or 0.92 percent, to 162.35. Turnover was HK$24.66 million versus yesterday's HK$27.5 million.
