Sun TV: achievement of merger seen in Mar 2002

Bruno Wu, Executive Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of Sun Television Cybernetworks Holdings Limited (0307), said that the effect of merging SINA.com can be seen in March 2002. He said that Sun Television Cybernetworks' relocation of human resources has basically been completed and whether there will be further staff cut will depend on the market situation. However, he thinks that there will not be further lay off this year. Albert Yen, General Manager of SINA.com, revealed that as at the end of this August, the company's employees in Hong Kong and Chinese mainland reduced to 19 and 370 respectively. In addition, the company looks to charge the e-mail account users by the end of the year and to provide other new charge-imposed services in the future.
