HSI close up 2.15% in midday

Hang Seng Index was higher at midday as the largest blue chip HSBC Holdings (0005) soared 4.9 percent after U.S. blue chips¡¦s overnight gains. The HSI close the morning session up 206.57 points or 2.15 percent at 9,807.36. Turnover was HKD3.8 billion. The Growth Enterprise Market Index ropped 0.40 points or 0.24 percent, to 166.39 on turnover of HKD16 million at midday.
