Japan stocks higher following Wall Street gains

Japanese stocks rose on optimism U.S. President George W. Bush's proposal for as much as $75 billion in new government spending will help stall an economic slowdown in Japan's largest trading partner.The Nikkei 225 stock average rose 122.03 points or 1.2 percent, to 10,121.87, its fifth gain in six sessions.
