China may issue more mobile phone licenses

China may consider issuing more mobile telephone licenses in an effort to make its telecoms market more competitive than under the current duopoly of China Mobile Communications (0941) and China Unicom Group (0762). Su Junsheng, head of the Ministry of Information Industry's Telecommunications Administration Bureau, said that China is too big a country to justify the current duopoly.
