Hang Seng Bank Sees 50% yearly increase in private banking clients

Hang Seng Bank (0011) saw a 50 percent year-on-year increase in private banking clients as a result of more aggressive marketing of the service, citing Mok Wai Kin, the bank's general manager. Of the new private banking clients, between 60 percent and 70 percent were existing Hang Seng Bank clients and 30 percent were newcomers. Mok said profit from private banking grew by 250 percent in the first half of 2001, though he did not give exact figures.
