NWI to enter China's cable television industry

New World Development (0012) is set to enter China's cable television industry despite opaque rules surrounding foreign participation in the sector. The unsourced report said NWD's subsidiary New World Infrastructure (0301) has set up a media arm, All Media Services, as a content aggregator and provider of equipment needed to target the mainland's video-on-demand market. The company would buy the content for VOD program as well as providing the hardware to mainland cable television operators to help transmit them, the paper quoted unnamed sources as saying.
