Hong Kong banks may cut rate for negative equity owners

Financial Secretary Antony Leung said the banks may consider a cut in mortgage rates for home owners suffering from negative equity if circumstances allow it. Speaking after a meeting with the bankers, Leung said bank officials were sympathetic towards these home owners and would consider lengthening the mortgage repayment period.
