CITIC Pacific to invest in Yunnan's Coal liquefaction project

CITIC Pacific Ltd. (0267) intends to invest in a 10.4 billion yuan brown coal liquefaction project in the Yunnan province of China. The red-chip company is in talks with the provincial government about buying a stake in the project. The project, which involves total investment of 10.4 billion yuan and will provide an estimated internal return of 12 percent, allows foreign companies to hold a controlling or even entire stake.
