HSI midday rallies 223 pt to 10521

Led by US stocks, HSI opened with a rise of 177 points this morning. The index rose nearly 270 points at most, and reached the half-day high at 10566.73. Blue chips soared in general, HSBC (0005) in particular. Telecoms lured in investment. Red chips and H shares were also chased. HSI ended at 10521.08 in morning session, up 222.84 points or 2.16%, on a turnover of $4.956 billion.
