Market restrictions set in 1998 can be relaxed: financial secretary
Financial Secretary Antony Leung said that the Government can consider relaxing the market rules set in 1998 for preventing speculative actions on Hong Kong Dollar and stocks, including restrictions on short selling, and strengthening the derivative market to provide a greater variety of products to investors. He stressed that the Government intends to enhance settlement and risk management and to broaden the investor base so that more tradings can be dealt in Hong Kong.
